Hello!
My name is Sasha and I am a Columbia trained mental health clinician, with 20 years working in the field.
After receiving an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Maine, I worked with youth and adolescents who had experienced hurt in some form or another, with their behaviors and personality development presenting in maladaptive ways. Two years later, I transitioned to work with not just children, but their parents as well, in instances where abuse and neglect were salient themes in the home. It seemed I held a natural aptitude in working with parents who had personality disturbances, and children with medical fragility. I learned a great deal about intergenerational trauma during this time and was struck by the extraordinary resilience of the human spirit, even whilst mired in dysfunction and/or addiction.
Nearly 8 years later, I returned to school to get a Master’s degree in social work, recognizing the call to step more fully into work as a therapist. It was here that I interned-and thereafter became employed-with Columbia/Presbyterian hospital. My interest in vulnerability and resilience to continued to expand and to my surprise, I also found myself drawn to the realms of end-of-life and grief. I observed extraordinarily rich psychic material to be present during these times, intermingled with exquisite pain. It was within this space that I noticed openings into deep intrapersonal discovery and healing for those with whom I worked. I find there are innumberable such openings when we pay close enough attention and have a smidgen of willingness to inquire within.
I tend to believe there is a core spot within all of us that is certain of its own wholeness and potential in this life. My aim to is help guide clients back to that spot, so they may continue to move forward with confidence, authencity and enjoyment in their lives.
